Video: Making an Encaustic Tile
Video showing one of our encaustic tiles being made. The tiles are handmade in a mould, using natural pigments pressed into a mixture of marble dust, sand and cement. After being hydraulically pressed, the tiles are simply dried in fresh air for 28 days.
The moulds for some 250 patterns are hung along the workshop wall. Each
mould is made up of many small shapes which are welded together.
